“We can count on a good market situation in line with solid demand for 2014,” says Saltigo Managing Director Wolfgang Schmitz confidently. His company is showcasing its comprehensive portfolio of products and services for the Custom Manufacturing and Custom Synthesis segments at CPhI Worldwide, from October 22 to 24, 2013, in Frankfurt, Germany. Saltigo GmbH, a wholly owned subsidiary of the LANXESS specialty chemicals group, offers tailor-made end-to-end solutions for the agrochemical and pharmaceutical industries along with attractive synthesis components and active ingredients for non-life science applications. “The CPhI in Frankfurt allows us to further deepen our well-established relationships with our customers,” says Schmitz. “And of course we seek new business opportunities through the continued acquisition of later-phase and commercial projects.”

Saltigo aims to further expand its business in the agrochemicals segment worldwide, to actively develop attractive projects in the pharmaceuticals segment and to further strengthen business with multi-customer products. In addition to its GMP-related services, Saltigo sees the manufacture of ISO products as another attractive business field.

“One focus is on attractive contract manufacturing projects in the field of animal health. We want to step up our activity in this segment of life science applications. We are convinced that these customers too can use our highly valued products and services to optimize their supply chain and benefit overall,” states marketing head Jörg Schneider. The animal health market is estimated at over USD 20 billion and shows annual growth rates of 4 to 5 percent.

Saltigo has once again proven its extensive competence in the field of active ingredient production this year. The LANXESS subsidiary passed another inspection in 2013 by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) with “no findings”. This marks the third time in a row following previous inspections in 2003 and 2010.

In September of this year, Saltigo relocated its corporate headquarters from Langenfeld to Leverkusen. Approximately 100 employees moved to the former LANXESS headquarters at the Chempark Leverkusen site. “Saltigo’s headquarters need to offer the best possible conditions to enable the company to continue efficiently steering its growth trajectory,” Schmitz adds, explaining the reasons behind the move. “The move brings Saltigo's headquarters in direct proximity to its research and production facilities.”

Saltigo GmbH is a leading supplier in the field of custom synthesis. The company of specialty chemicals group LANXESS belongs to the Advanced Intermediates segment, which achieved total sales in 2012 of EUR 1,674 million. Saltigo, headquartered in Langenfeld and with production facilities in Leverkusen and Dormagen, employs around 1,200 staff worldwide.
